In March 2019 LSE Library created a cross-curricular workshop for primary schools exploring geo-political issues around walls and borders that were informed by the theme of the festival. Over 100 8 to 11 year olds created their own response on a ‘brick’ to what they cared about in the world today, which was built into a wall of hopes and protest on 2 March. In doing this, one of the teacher’s commented that the students learnt...

As the nights draw in and Christmas approaches, I start to prepare for the Withey and paper Lantern workshops that I run yearly across two districts within Surrey. This year, the communities I work with (Warlingham and Stanwell) are branching out into public workshops within their communities, to add to the well established school workshops that provide the backbone of the lantern parades.

I am looking forward to sha...

As part of my on-going residence at Guildford Nursery school, I wanted to share some of the images I have that shows a small part of what I have been experiencing whilst working within the setting and alongside the children and their play.

As always I am struck at the importance of time... allowing thought, reflection, continued engagement with no rush to end the exploration. It is a challenge that all Nursery setti...

Following a sell out pilot tour in 2016, Moonbrella returns for a tour spring 2018. It has been especially brilliant to have the opportunity to re visit some often prop designs and invite Jane Gordon in to design and make the costumes. Tom Cook returns in expanding the sound track and original songs. Adam Farrell has joined Katy Potter to fine tune the script. It really is a privilege to have such a strong creative team on thi...

Digital Drama has commissioned me to deliver workshops across London via Heritage project partners in the London Boroughs. I have been working with community groups from Croydon to Tottenham out to Ealing and over to the Museum of London. The Project is creating 100 banners in commemoration of the Representation of the People Act 1918 which started to expand suffrage to include women, in addition to a wider proportion of men....

The launch of the Deeds Not Words immersive drama by Digital Drama in Covent Garden on the 7th July 2017 also was the opportunity to launch the tour of the 3 community designed suffrage banners created within Covent Garden this Spring and Summer. The Banners include print work from St Mungo's residents, Dudley Court Sheltered Housing and St Josephs RC Primary School. Participants ranged from 11 years old to individuals in thei...

May 19th 2017, We launched the Community Art Garden in Smallfield. The team that had volunteered over 100 hours of work to create the landscape and planting of the garden launched the new garden with a Hog Roast and a few bottles of bubbles! I have been so proud to be part of this project and for the design to be fully realised through the extraordinary generosity of the community in both donations and time. The garden is desi...

Lantern Parade season

October 24, 2019

As the nights draw in and Christmas approaches, I start to prepare for the Withey and paper Lantern workshops that I run yearly across two districts within Surrey. This year, the communities I work with (Warlingham and Stanwell) are branching out into public workshops within their communities, to add to the well established school workshops that provide the backbone of the lantern parades.

I am looking forward to sharing the skills to make our pyramid lanterns to a wider audience and to grow the volunteer base that is essential for these community events to thrive and survive.
